Fonts are a wonderful part of the Husqvarna Viking® 4DTM EMBROIDERY, 4DTM EMBROIDERY EXTRA and 3D Studio programs. To use them to their fullest, here are some tips and guidelines. When choosing a font from a category, the letters after the name of the font help you to identify what type of font it is. Let's choose the Bremen UC 15 – 60 MM font (found in the Decorative category). The UC means that this is an Upper Case only font. Even if you type lower case letters in the Letters area, the created words will be in all upper case. The 15 – 60 MM is the range of sizes for which the font is digitized. Choose a size within this range. Other characters after a font give you more information. For Acorn 6C UCMB 35 – 60 MM, the 6C is the number of colors in a multi-color font, in this case 6. The UC is upper case. M means the font was created as a Monogram font with no punctuation or numbers. The B means that it has only the English characters. There are a couple of other letters that you may see. LC is a lower case only font. Even if you type in all capital letters, the created words will be all lower case. There is a special Font category that is called Nearest Point (NP). Nearest Point is recommended for faster stitch out of small fonts, where connection stitches will be left untrimmed. Choose Running Connection Tip: Go to Help, Help Topics on the top menu bar (or press F1). Choose Index and type in Nearest Point. There's more information about how the Nearest Point font works. The size of the letters is determined by the size of the Upper Case "A" in the font category. Notice the Old English font in the Traditional category in this screenshot. The Size is set to 20 mm Change the look of the font by using the Height and/or Width. If you change the Height to 3, the letter "A" is now 60 mm high (20 mm x 3) with the same width. If you change the Width to 3, the letter "A" is now 3 times wider than it was. Go to the Help system to find out more about the fonts in your system! You can also see samples of all the letters in the fonts in the Sample Guides in PDF format. Go to Start, All Programs, 4D Embroidery System then choose Sample Guides, Fonts&Shapes. You will see a PDF guide for each font category. Double-click on the desired guide to open it. Enjoy! Best wishes from Husqvarna Viking |
