When you click Preferences you see a dialog box that provides options to set and change settings for the specific module you are adjusting. For example, in 4D^TM Embroidery or 4D^TM Embroidery Extra, it includes options to set the Grid Size, Splitting for Multi-Part Hoops on Combine and Check Spelling. However, in 3D or 4D^TM Sketch, it includes options to set the Length, Width and Speed of different stitches as well as the Grid Size.

Each module has unique Preferences. Always remember, when you change anything in Preferences, the new settings will be remembered when the module is closed and reopened. You only need to set Preferences once and your settings will remain.

However if you Reset All Modules in 3D or 4D^TM Configure, all modules will be set to their default settings thus changing the settings in Preferences back to the original settings.

The Preferences icon is found in 4D^TM Embroidery or 4D^TM Embroidery Extra, 4D^TM Vision, 4D^TM Organizer, 4D^TM Stitch Editor, 4D^TM Design Aligner, 4D^TM Design Creator, 4D^TM Sketch, 4D^TM Fabric Decorator, 4D^TM Cross Stitcher, 4D^TM PictureStitch, 4D^TM Family Portrait, 3D Embroidery Studio, 3D Vision, 3D Organizer, 3D Stitch Editor, 3D Design Splitter, 3D Digitizing, 3D Cross Stitcher and 3D PictureStitch.

3D or 4D^TM Sketch is the module where your embroideries can soar! You can take an existing embroidery design and add to it with either Free Motion stitching, Calligraphy or, with 4D^TM Sketch, even Motifs! Choose from existing motifs or motifs you’ve created in other 4D^TM modules.

Another wonderful feature of 3D or 4D^TM Sketch is the ability to enhance a picture file. Use the Load Design Wizard - Load Picture for a New Embroidery or Load Picture and Embroidery to begin the adventure. Add alignment stitches to the actual picture to ensure exact placement of your embroidery enhancements. The next step - making the picture unique by adding Free Motion stitches like the petals of a flower. When finished with your creation, why not ‘sign’ it with your signature. Use the Calligraphy tool and sign your name!

Don’t forget to print out your picture file on printer fabric and use the alignment stitches that you added in the Load Design Wizard to help you achieve accurate results. When finished, you have a one of a kind design. However, the free motion sewing is actually an embroidery, so you can stitch it out over and over and every time you will have a unique masterpiece!

When there is an update to your software, do you know what’s new? What are the new features of the update you did last year? Are there new features you have never even used before because you weren’t even aware they were there?

Every time you do a major update to your software via Smart Update, your software is updated. However, at the same time, there is an ‘update file’ called a Readme that is also placed in your software. Here you will find all the information on ‘what’s new’ in the update.

The Readme file is quite easy to find. When you click on your 3D or 4D^TM icon on your desktop, the 3D or 4D^TM Embroidery System folder opens. Here you will find a folder called ‘Readmes’. Click on the Readmes folder and learn all about the latest update and all previous updates. For example, if you have 4D^TM Embroidery Software, and you’ve done the 8.3 update, the Husqvarna Viking Texture Hoop has been added to the list of machine hoops! Did you also notice the Designer Majestic, Royal, Crown and Splendid Square Hoops have been adjusted to show the quick release latch?
